Court axes federal valve rule for gathering pipelines

“A pipeline safety group blasted the ruling, saying gathering lines can be just as big and operate under the same high pressure as large transmission pipelines. They also can be located in heavily populated areas.

Bill Caram, executive director of the Pipeline Safety Trust, said the industry groups that brought the legal challenge ‘continue to litigate nearly every attempt to make [the industry] accountable to public safety.'”
