In March of 2005 the City of St. Peters, Missouri passed a disclosure ordinance to ensure that purchasers of residential property were made aware of all easements on their property. This came about because of a number of pipeline issues where it became apparent that many property owners never knew they had pipelines with the associated easements on their property. This law only affects residential property, and only if there is an easement on that property. A pipeline easement running right next to a person’s property would not be included.
