“That’s among the largest natural gas liquids spills ever recorded nationally, said Bill Caram, executive director of the Pipeline Safety Trust, based in Bellingham, Washington. Three other spills have occurred nationally where more than 1 million gallons of natural gas liquids were spilled since 2013, and in all three other instances, the spilled liquids ignited. In at least one of the incidents, a 2024 leak and fire in Texas after a pipeline was struck by an SUV, a person died.”
