Hydrogen in pipelines: A ‘dangerous experiment?’

“Given hydrogen’s propensity to leak and its added safety risks, we really need to be careful and asking what kind of projects is it suitable for,” said Bill Caram, the Pipeline Safety Trust’s executive director.
“The conclusion we came to is, you need to be looking at new [hydrogen] infrastructure anytime you can, and really trying to stay away from repurposing existing natural gas infrastructure,” Caram said.
