Congress is considering giving FERC near total control of land-based and near shore LNG facility siting. States are concerned in maintaining their authority and environmental protections, while safety advocates worry that FERC cares little about LNG safety in populated areas.

This provision of the Energy Bill will be taken up in the U.S. Senate as early as the week of May 15th. If you are concerned let your Senator know what you think.

To find out how to contact your Senator go to: www.senate.gov

Senators on the Energy and Natural Resources Committee are particularly important to contact. Membership of that committee can be found at: energy.senate.gov
